The results of trial run of SCANIA and VOLVO road trains during ore hauling from Zarnitsa open pit to the processing plant #12 of Udachninsky GOK of ALROSA OJSC are represented. This is the first time when the road trains were used in natural geographic and inclement climatic conditions of Republic of Sakha Yakutia. During test run, all delivered dump trucks and trailers were modernized and improved in dump body design. To reduce the time for unloading, construction of trestle at the ore stockpile of the processing plant #12 was undergone. Performance and efficiency assessment of vehicles conducts in competitive environment using dump trucks with different capacity. It was managed to reduce hauling cycle time by an average of 40% due to structural design modernization of body, construction of unloading complex unit and development of multipurpose load flowsheet. The specific fuel consumption rate of all trucks with trailers during the hauling on the route from Zarnitsa open pit to the processing plant #12 was 28.2 g/tkm. In comparison with traditional САТ-785В haul trucks, the prime cost of ore hauling at a distance of 22 km on the Zarnitsa pipe - plant #12 route using Scania and Volvo road trains is 2 times lower. Acquired experience of road trains operation in the new transport system during ore hauling from remote and low-value deposits allows considering the possibility of substitution of used import vehicles trademarks to domestic ones.
